NEW ITEM OF INTEREST

The Brown Township Board of Supervisors were approached by a resident of the Township suggesting that Brown Township consider purchasing the former Brown Elementary School property if the Mifflin County School District decides to sell it. You are welcome to share any comments, opinions, or thoughts on this matter with the Board of Supervisors by sending an email to the Township Secretary at browntownship@embarqmail.com

CAST IRON TOWN MARKERS

The Kishacoquillas Valley Historical Society is looking for the old cast iron town name signs - (the Keystone Markers) for the towns in Mifflin County.

These markers were a project of the PA Department of Highways in the 1920's. There would have one sign at each end of town.

The Kishacoquillas Valley Historical Society would like to preserve these markers in the Kish Valley Museum.

If you have any knowledge of the location of any of these markers, please contact the Township Office at 667-2531 or the Kishacoquillas Valley Historical Society at P. O. Box 43, Allensville, PA 17002

911 ADDRESS MARKERS

Brown Township is offering 911 address markers to the residents of the Township. The cost is $10.00 per marker, and if needed, a post will be included. In addition, the Township is willing to erect the sign on your property at no extra cost.

The signs are green with white reflective numbers. This is being done to assist the local fire and ambulance companies to locate your property in the event of an emergency.

If you are interested in purchasing an address marker, please contact Teresa King at 667-2531 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
